Amazon went out of there way to get this to me after saying it was on a shipping delay.

What I received:The chain hoist was made in China.I put it up and tried to use it but it would lockup.I finally opened it up and the inside was full of machined metal shavings and grit.Even the bearings were gritty with shavings and grit.The inside parts were roughly manufactured and razor sharp.I took it all apart got some gasoline a small paint brush and the air compressor.One of the bearings I couldn't get out so I had to clean it in place.After cleaning out all the shavings and grit I re-lubricated and re-assembled and for 6 months now it has worked perfect.

I hung mine from the seatbelt in my car. I had some tempered glass laying around my garage, so I gave it a quick try. It worked as expected. With just a little bit of pressure the glass was punctured and immediately shattered.

I highly recommend this device, especially give its low price.

I purchased these chains because my local mountains requires chains even with snow tires during heavy conditions. They fit very well on my Toyo open country M/T 35x12.50x20 tires. I had old school link chains before which weighed a ton and was very hard to install for my 33" tires. Quality seems to be very high.My only negative so far would be the size of the bag is a little small so you really have to roll the chains up tight to put away, but on the other hand, the bag fits , nice and quietely behind the rear seats of my Tundra Crew max. I would recommend these z-cable style chains for if you have 35" tires.

(More customer reviews)The product would be great except for one thing; the picture shows the portions of the chain that go over the tread all evenly spaced and at regular intervals.But that's not the case where the links connect when installing the chains.It's like there's one missing there.I ended buying a bit more chain locally and adding it to the assembly.In my view, it should have been there from the start.

With that change, it worked just fine on my snow-thrower.

(More customer reviews)I live in Washington state and always been concerned about traction needs in the winter months.Many people like the "cable" type of tire chains since they are "springy" and it makes installing them easier (versus actual "chains" like these that don't stay straight across the tire, are much heavier, etc).However, I was with some others when we ended up sliding off the road.We instantly intalled some of those "cable" type chains for trying to get back on the road, but the cable that goes in a circle broke instantly at one of the joints (where a cable going across the tire joined it).So that instantly made me lose all faith in those styles making me want something that'll hold up in any situation.
These have a small bar welded to each chain link that contacts the road to help give better traction and/or longer life making them more expensive than many others.I did have a set of these where a link broke right where there was one of those welds, so the weld may have weakened it.I've not had that happen again, but haven't used them that many times every year either.The big thing when installing any kind of tire chains is to remember that you want them to be tight and virtually part of the tire while on the road.Don't just drape them over the tire, connect the hooks to the end link of the chains and start driving because they may flop off the tire easily, start whipping your fenders or even catch on things like a brake line ripping the car apart.You want to work all the slack you can out of the chains and end up with the same number of loose links on both sides of the tire.If you end up with 1 or 2 links on each side that can flop around, that's not a big deal, but 3 or more can again damage the car.To contain them, hold the hook, place the end link that can flop around on it, then place the hook in the link that makes it tight and the end one will be trapped.Many OEMs recomend driving a few blocks on them, then checking them again for slack.Besides doing these things, having the "chain tighteners" (that are a huge rubber band) or some short bungee cords to constantly be pulling them tight to the tire helps as well (with those taking out any slack you missed).
With these installed correctly, they will be as good as any others & last as long or longer.

This tool has pointed heads on the hammer which will cause the tempered glass in side windows (NOT the windshield) to shatter when hit with some force. As in all emergencies the key thing is to calm youself so you can think clearly. Mount this tool where you can easily reach it and then practice locating it and removing it from the mounting bracket with your eyes closed. With this tool you can fairly easily break the window and cut your seat belt if needed so you can exit the vehicle, hopefully before it sinks, if you have driven into flood water. You can also use it to rescue yourself or someone else trapped in a vehicle as a result of an accident that has jambed the doors where they won't open. The Today Show on NBC just recently had a segment on escaping a sinking vehicle and showed this tool in use.

(More customer reviews)I had to call to order the chains since my size wasn't listed.I had to tell him 5+ times the size of my tires.I figured I was in trouble at that point, but thought I go ahead and give it a try anyway.

The chains were too big for my tires (very loose after I got them on).At first, the owner (single owner outfit) responded to me.That was almost 3 weeks ago.He was supposed to get with the manufacturer (probably some Chineese firm that makes these things for him), but I am yet to hear back.I've sent numerous emails, but still no response.

About the quality of the chains.They seemed rather cheap and not heavy duty.Maybe that's ok for a car with low-profile tires and they need to be small.But for my truck, they look like they'd snap in one use.

(More customer reviews)I bought these chains because they are called for in my Honda CR-V manual. They fit.

In the box, Radial Chain LT looked like they had been used - dusty, corrosion, no instructions - but they were new.
I installed them during fine weather but could not fit all the end-bushings throught the end-hook. I had to grind the burrs off the bushings so they would fit through the end-hook easily. They would have failed to be useful if trying to install them when needed for traction.

I decided to keep them and make them work because they fit my car which has little clearance.
Be sure to test them before trying to install them while lying in the snow.

These are lightweight and compact cable chains, strong and effective enough to get you going. If you're already stuck in snow, you don't have to worry about having to lay out the chains and drive onto them. Just lay 'em flat and link the two segments together at the bottom back of the tire. Bring the two segments up and link them together at the top. Hook on the tensioner and drive away.
The drawbacks:
In real-world conditions (it's cold, it's snowing, it's probably dark) putting these on without preparation isn't fun. You kneel in snow and get your legs wet. Your hands get cold and wet and numb, and it becomes hard to mate the links on the back side of the tire. Just when you're close to done and your strength is giving out, you've got to stretch the rubber tensioner rings onto the chain.
So, practice putting them on under agreeable conditions so you know what you're in for. Stow a waterproof mat to kneel on. Put some packs of chemical hand warmers in the chains' carry bag.
And a hint: you'll be tempted to hook the link pins into the matching holes in a straight line. They won't go. Fit the pin into the slot at a 90-degree angle and turn it straight.
I've got a set of these for each vehicle. I've used 'em four times and never been stranded.

(More customer reviews)I purchased these tighteners to go along with my security tire chains.They are very necessary to insure a snug fit of your chains to the tires.I found them to be somewhat difficult to install the first time due to the fact that you must stretch the rubber to get the clips to reach the chains.The tension of the rubber ring is what tightens the chains.I hope that it will be easier next time.I recommend working clips at opposite ends of the ring as opposed to going around the ring in a circular fashion.When you go around, the last couple of hooks will be very tight and hard to attach.It should be easier if you clip one hook at 12 oclock and then the next at about 6 oclock, then work the sides from there.
